Education and Awareness
Astronomy Workshop
Eeda Malla village is a haven for astronomy enthusiasts. It offers a picturesque view of the sky studded with stunning celestial objects. HEAL in collaboration with Auranya organised an Astronomy and Star Gazing Workshop for about 30 students from the Government Inter-College Reethakhal and the Doon Girls School, Dehradun at the Auranya Valley Viewing Deck on 31 March 2024. Through telescopes, students looked at sun spots, star clusters, their favorite constellations (the Great Bear, Little Bear, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, and many more) and unravelled mysteries of the celestial world.
Indigenous Foods and Healthy Eating
By consuming indigenous foods packed with seasonal nutrients we support healthier eating and re-connect with village communities. Whether it is, Mandua (ragi), Jhangora (millets), Gur (jaggery), Rae (leafy greens), Kandali (nettle grass), Ghinthi or Tairu (yam), Ghee (clarified butter) and so much more. HEAL in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pedeatrics (IAP) supported by The Hans Foundation (THF) organised the Sankalp Sampurn Sawthaya (SSS) training workshop for 20 primary and 50 senior school students of the Government Inter-College Reethakhal on 7 May 2024. The workshop sensitized the students on the importance of healthy eating and choosing indigenous traditional home food, instead of junk or ultra processed food. The nutritive content and benefits of wholesome traditional food was reiterated throughout the workshop.
